Korean Swear Words, Explained
You've heard them in dramas, in variety-show bleeps and all over comment sections. This guide explains what Korean swear words and crude slang actually mean and how strong each one feels — so you understand the scene, not so you can throw them around. Rule of thumb: none of these are for elders, teachers, strangers or work.
The strong ones
Real swear words. Said to someone's face, they start a fight. When a drama character says 씨발 out loud, they're at their breaking point — and on Korean TV these are usually muted or bleeped.
